For this continuously sold-out and award-winning production of Gauthier Dance’s “POPPEA//POPPEA“, Christian Spuck was inspired by Claudio Monteverdi’s last opera “L’incoronazione di Poppea”. The story of the Emperor Nero’s and Poppaea Sabina’s marriage still fascinates today’s audiences, portraying the cruel lust for power and passion at the court of the Roman ruler. In the end, all succumb to the elemental force of a totally amoral idea of «love». This 3D-film was recorded at the Theaterhaus Stuttgart.
